Description

MARINE OIL stops and stabilizes rust deep down and prevents any recurrence. It also combines with your varnishes and lacquers, making them rust-resistant.

Easy to use, it is ideal for the long-term maintenance of your materials.

Properties

Penetrates: - Impregnates and penetrates the substrate to stabilize and protect it down to the sound metal. - Neutralizes rust, including in micro-cavities.
Isolates and protects: - Without any chemical action, isolates the substrate from air and moisture. Halts rust formation. - Forms a flexible protective film that integrates with the substrate, making it impermeable to air and moisture. - Prevents any bleed-through on areas oxidized by marine air and ambient humidity.
Adheres to all substrates: - Reinforces the adhesion of the finish. - Applies directly to non-friable rust, using it as a pigment. Avoids the need for prior sanding and priming.
Can be added to: - Oil-based paints, varnishes, lacquers, etc., single-component (alkyds/glycero) that it renders rustproof and adhesive. - Facilitates their application (better brushability), improves their adhesion, and reduces the risk of flaking.
Decorates: - Allows preserving the rusty appearance of substrates while protecting them.

Destination

• Applicable on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics (excluding polypropylene and polyethylene), glass, wood,... oxidized or non-oxidized prepared substrates: masts, gelcoats, hulls, hardware parts...

Recommendations before application

• Ensure that the surface is completely dry, clean, and degreased. Cover anything that should not be treated, especially when applying with a roller or sprayer. Resists temperatures of up to 175°C. When in doubt, always perform a preliminary test.

Application

Rust-penetrating primer:

Apply directly to the prepared surface, whether rusted or not, 1 to 2 coats of pure MARINE OIL, with a 24-hour interval between coats.
Allow to dry for a minimum of 48 hours before recoating with a finish (single-component solvent-based). Temperature 20°C and 50% RH.
Ambient temperature and relative humidity influence drying time.
After drying, ensure that the surfaces are shiny and uniformly protected.
Additive for paint, varnish, and lacquer:

Perform a preliminary compatibility test by mixing with a small volume of finish.
As an undercoat, add approximately 25% of MARINE OIL to the primer or paint to make it rustproof, or 50% if applying to a smooth, hard-to-cover surface.
In finishing coats, do not exceed 5%. Then allow to dry according to the recommendations above.
On a new surface, with no signs of oxidation, it is preferable to use PID 60 MARINE*, or OWATROL-C.I.P., or PRIMER AP.60.
Application temperature +10°C to +30°C
Coverage per coat ± 18 m²/l
Finish Satin
Dangerous. Follow usage precautions. Harmful to aquatic organisms, causes long-term adverse effects. Repeated exposure can lead to skin dryness or cracking.
