Description

The OWATROL® OIL is a rust treatment that makes your materials more resistant, stops rust, and protects them from external aggressions. To be used as an undercoat before your finishing paint, it guarantees you a quality result and preserves your materials from heat and moisture thanks to its protective film.

Properties

Penetrating and insulating rust converter:

Penetrates down to the healthy metal while displacing air and moisture.
Forms a flexible and insulating protective film. Resistant up to +175°C.
Additive for oil-based paints, varnishes, and stains:

Dilution: 25% per liter for the first coat or 50% if the surface is smooth or porous.
Renders oil-based paints, varnishes, and stains rust-resistant. Facilitates their application.
Replaces thinners: does not evaporate.
Increases the coverage of finishes.
Universal adhesion primer:

Use undiluted for the first coat.
Provides adhesion on all smooth surfaces: glass, PVC, ferrous and non-ferrous metals...
Allows for covering aluminum, galvanized steel, and zinc without peeling.
Decorative aspect:

Preserves the rusty appearance of surfaces while protecting them.

Destination

Ferrous and non-ferrous metals. (Can be applied on wood, plastics, glass...)
Surfaces ranging from oxidized to heavily oxidized.
For new surfaces, preferably use RUSTOL-PRIMER paint or RUSTOL-DÉCO.
Compatible with all varnishes, paints, lacquers, and oil-based coatings (alkyds) air-drying, oil-based paints, glycerophthalic paints, single-component urethanes, petroleum asphalt-based paints, oily coatings. Can be mixed with oil-based coatings for better wood impregnation and good protection of metal parts (hinges and fittings).
Not compatible with quick-drying paints (e.g., automotive), chlorinated rubber or two-component paints, water-based paints (see OWATROL E-B and FLOETROL).

Recommendations before application

Check that the surface is dry and free from greasy stains and scale.

Application

OWATROL® OIL is more effective on lightly oxidized surfaces because it uses rust as a pigment to form the protective film.
To make anti-rust paints, always perform a compatibility test and prepare a mixture of 25% OWATROL® OIL and 75% paint.
To facilitate the application of paints, instead of using thinners, consider adding 5% OWATROL® OIL.
Application temperature +5°C to +35°C
Coverage per coat ± 18 m²/l
