Universal rust-inhibiting primer compatible with all paint types. It remains stable and does not dissolve or degrade when exposed to high-solvent paints.
Penetrates and stabilizes the surface, creating a solid and stable layer for firm adhesion of subsequent coatings.
Enhanced pigmentation provides increased protection and ensures perfect film-forming qualities.
Simple application process; no sanding or sandblasting required.
Suitable for use on new or rusted surfaces, both indoors and outdoors.
Offers high-temperature resistance up to 175°C.

Destination

OWATROL C.I.P. (Corrosion Inhibiting Primer) is highly recommended for use in all severe environmental conditions, including marine or tropical climates, areas with corrosive fumes, and for the protection of motor vehicles, construction equipment, ballast tanks of ships, as well as everyday items such as railings and gates. It is particularly beneficial when applying or requiring a highly resistant paint or two-pack finish (such as urethane, epoxy, chlorinated rubber, synthetic, etc.).

Recommendations before application

Shake or stir the paint thoroughly before and during use.
Do not dilute the paint.
Remove any loose or flaking rust, mill scale, and old paint back to a sound surface using a wire brush or scraper. It is not necessary to remove all firmly adhered rust.
Surfaces exposed to chemicals (such as salts, acids, alkalis, etc.) should be washed with water or steam cleaned.
Severely contaminated surfaces should be cleaned using the appropriate solvent.
Before application, ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, and other contaminants.

Application

• Vigorously stir the high-resistance rust primer RUSTOL C.I.P. before use to ensure even distribution of the components.

• Apply the high-resistance rust primer RUSTOL C.I.P. with a brush, roller, or spray gun, depending on preferences and the nature of the surface.

If applying with a spray gun and depending on the type of nozzle used, add 5 to 20% of RUSTOL-OWATROL®* to the RUSTOL C.I.P. to achieve the desired viscosity.

• Apply a thin layer of the high-resistance rust primer RUSTOL C.I.P. directly onto the surface without building up thickness. The aim is to impregnate rather than completely conceal the substrate.

For heavily oxidized surfaces or those subjected to very harsh conditions, plan for 2 thin coats of RUSTOL C.I.P. with a 24-hour interval before applying the finish.

• Adhere to the drying time instructions between coats and ensure uniform coverage of the surface. The high-resistance rust primer RUSTOL C.I.P. must be completely dry before any recoating.

Allow 48 hours (at 20°C and 50% RH) before applying a finish.
A minimum of 72 hours before applying a quick-drying or two-component finish.
48 hours (minimum) (complete drying without exceeding 7 days) for an alkyd finish.

Allow the product to fully dry before handling or exposing it to severe environmental conditions.
Application temperature +5°C to +35°C
