Recommendations before application
New wood:
Direct application. If the wood has significant surface glazing (which hinders product penetration), consider preparing the surface beforehand (consult us).
Untreated gray wood:
Clean with DECK CLEANER**. Sand the wood if necessary (100 grit).
Previously treated (oiled) gray wood:
Remove oil with AQUANETT®** + DECK CLEANER**. Sand the wood if necessary (100 grit).
Previously painted, stained, or varnished wood:
- Alkyd glycerophthalic coating: strip with MARINE STRIP** + DECK CLEANER**.
- Acrylic coating: consult us.
How to check if wood has excessive surface glazing?
Perform the water drop test to verify if wood is absorbent (open/glazed). Place a drop of water on the wood. If it does not penetrate, the wood is non-absorbent in its current state. Natural (sanding/brushing) or chemical (AQUANETT®**) deglazing is necessary.
The wood must be clean, dry (3 days of dry weather - maximum wood humidity 18%), sound, and prepared according to the standards in force - free from dust, mold, grease stains, and any old coating.
Do not apply in direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day. Ensure no rain for 24/48 hours after application.
Relative humidity should be around 50% for optimal drying. Watch out for morning dew.
Protect anything that should not be treated.

Application
• Do not dilute before or during application. Mix thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes with a suitable helical mixer. Repeat if necessary during application.
• Apply a coat of OWATROL®-ATG over the entire blade in the direction of the wood fibers.
• Let dry for a minimum of 6 hours (at 20°C and 60% RH) then apply a second coat. Complete drying in 24 hours.
• If applying with a spray gun, immediate smoothing is always recommended to improve penetration and give a uniform appearance.
• Fully cured: 5 days.
Putting a pontoon or boat deck into service: light traffic between 24 hours and 5 days. Normal traffic after 5 days.
Ambient temperature and relative humidity influence drying time.
